What to Expect
What should I bring?
Everyone is encouraged to bring a Bible, note taking material, and a heart willing to worship God. If you do not have a Bible, one will be provided for you to use during your visit.
Which Bible should I bring?
Perhaps you have noticed that there are several translations available today. It can be confusing to know which one to use. At God's Word Baptist Church we use the King James (1611, authorized) Version. We hold it to be the only true, inspired and preserved English Bible. If you do not have one of these Bibles, we have several available for use during your visit. This way, we are always reading the same words and there is no confusion.
What should I wear?
Although there is no dress code at God's Word Baptist Church, we recommend dressing your best for the Lord. Slacks and a tie for men and a dress or skirt for ladies are not required but always appropriate. We will not embarrass or ridicule you because of your wardrobe.
Is childcare available?
Many people keep their small children with them during our services. We do provide a Sunday school class for younger ones who cannot sit still in church.
What about the hearing impaired?
We are blessed to have a gifted interpreter so all services can be interpreted for the hearing impaired.

What about children in church?
Each week, God's Word Baptist Church meets as a family to worship the Lord. One thing that seems to be missing in many churches is an emphasis on the family. Pastor Byers and his wife have 6 children and have much experience in training young children in the Bible. Every 2 months, we have a special children’s church for the entire family in the main Sunday school hour. Adults and children alike seem to enjoy the children's lesson from the Bible.
What are your services like?
We are unashamedly old fashioned in our worship and preaching. By that we mean we sing the old fashioned hymns about the book and the blood! We stand firm on God's Word and are not afraid to preach the Bible! We are not a charismatic church and we do not allow for tongues or other non-biblical practices associated with the charismatic movement.
Who is welcome to come?
Everyone! GWBC is concerned about helping every person we possibly can to deepen their relationship with God. That being said, we are not an exclusive or highbrow church. We love every one regardless of rank, economic, social or racial circumstance. We hope to see you soon as you search for a church home. If we can help you in any way, don't hesitate to contact us.
